The Ardmore Main Street Authority is established as a working force to
assist the economic growth and well-being of Ardmore, preserve and
improve the historic value of downtown, create a quality business
environment for both business owner and customer, and be an
ever-expanding informational resource for the downtown area.
Vision
Downtown Ardmore will be the economic, cultural, entertainment, and
tourism center in Southern Oklahoma, providing a physically attractive,
thriving, and historic center for working, shopping, and living.
Downtown Ardmore will set the standard for creating an environment to
enhance the economic vitality and quality of life for citizens.
Approach
The Main Street approach is a comprehensive revitalization process that
focuses on all aspects of a commercial business district. Main Street
successfully integrates a practical management strategy with the
physical improvement of buildings and public spaces, aggressive
promotion and image building, and the economic development of the area.

Who
funds Main Street?
Ardmore Main Street Authority receives no federal or state money. All
funding is provided locally by property owners, retailers, industry,
financial institutions, and the City of Ardmore, each making
significant contributions.
Where
does the money go?
Funding is used for promoting the revitalization of downtown Ardmore
through developing and implementing plans for the future design and
restoration assistance, building inventories, retail recruitment, and
large promotions such as Taste of Ardmore, and Main Street Holiday Open
House Activities. Resources are also used for salaries and office
expenses.
How
long does Main street last?
The Main Street Program is an on-going program developed by the
National Trust for Historic Preservation to encourage economic
development within the context of historic preservation. The Program
was designed as a long term revitalization project to serve the needs
of the community.
What
has Main Street done for Ardmore?
Ardmore Main Street Authority has established a local office with a
program manager and an administrative assistant who act as managers,
planners, coordinators and facilitators for projects in the central
business district.
