AMSA History

Ardmore Main Street Authority is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, established in 1989 by The National Trust for Historic Preservation as a commercial district revitalization program. The program is for the use and benefit of the citizens of the City of Ardmore and the surrounding trade area to:

  • promote economic growth and well-being of Ardmore
  • preserve and improve the historic value of its downtown
  • create a quality business environment for both business owners and consumers
  • be an ever-expanding informational resource for the downtown area

A handful of energetic and enthusiastic citizens with a burning desire to preserve our rich cultural heritage, and realizing that Main Street is the heart and soul of the city, banded together in 1989 to help get Ardmore Main Street up and running. Thanks to their efforts, Ardmore Main Street today has the largest district and largest budget of any Main Street program in the state of Oklahoma and boasts a thriving downtown area providing a wealth of shopping, dining, and living experiences. Art galleries, boutiques, loft apartments, antique stores and fine dining are but a few of the surprises awaiting you.

So, what are you waiting for? Come home to downtown!
