The Santa Fe depot is one of the oldest buildings in Ardmore and is the permanent location of the historic Mercy Train.
After the terrible explosion that occurred in Ardmore in 1915, the Santa Fe Depot was constructed where Locomotive 1108 or the Mercy Train originally arrived. The train carried aid for the destruction of the explosion.
When the Mercy train retired in 1954, the City of Ardmore moved the beloved train to the Hardy Murphy Coliseum. It rested there until September 7, 2017, when the locomotive was moved to the Santa Fe Depot downtown Ardmore.
AMSA helped raise over a million dollars to fund the restoration of the Santa Fe Depot in 2015.
The Millard K. Ingram Community Room at the Santa Fe Depot is available to rent for many events. Located at the Eastern edge of Depot Park, the Santa Fe Depot has space to hold over a hundred guests. The space also has exciting additions such as a kitchenette, bar and open dance floor.
The Market Place on Broadway located at Ardmore’s Downtown Farmer’s Market is a covered indoor-outdoor pavilion that is available to rent for a wide range of happenings.
It is also the site of the weekly Farmer’s Market that happens May through November, where people in Ardmore can buy fresh produce and enjoy Oklahoma’s unique local products. It alsohosts an occasional cooking demonstration or cookbook signing.
You will be required to provide an approved contract and a Security deposit to reserve and host an event at AMSA’s venues. The security deposit is the same price as the Rental Fee and ensures Ardmore’s venues remain protected
Depot Park is Ardmore’s newest park and is a great addition to the downtown Depot District. The park was privately funded and helped bring the Sante Fe Depot Building and property back to life. We hope to see many events happen in the near future at Depot Park.
We thank you for being so interested in supporting The Depot District. Collective support is the most effective tool for seeing the vision of a thriving Downtown come true. Will you join the movement to preserve Ardmore’s history?
